Write Yourself Alive: Day Eight – Relief

Today’s Prompt: Stream of Consciousness. For 15 minutes, write or type, without any worry of grammar or punctuation, all the thoughts that find their way into your head. Let them pass through you, and treat yourself as a conduit, not a filter. You are the vessel, so allow the words to leak out however they choose. For the first time feel yourself channeling them, instead of searching for them.

Relief. There’s nothing quite like that feeling of a weight being lifted off of your shoulders, whether figurative or literal. Today, I got the chance to experience that. I’m lucky, really, to be in the position I’m in. I’ll admit, this stream of consciousness thing is backfiring ever so slightly, because I keep pausing to stop and let it all sink in. In fact, my time’s nearly up and I’ve only barely written this. Whoops. It can’t be helped, I guess. This is what’s coming to mind and that’s that.

I have a trip to Los Angeles and New York ahead with Karrie to look forward to. I have a return to the UK ahead after that. I’ve got a wedding to go to. Lovely people to visit. New places to see. I’m a very blessed person, in spite of my occasional whinging, and it does me well to remind myself of it.

I’m a lucky girl, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Home is behind, the world ahead
And there are many paths to tread
